Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Carzola! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Humphrey Baker! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carzola dives in and grabs Baker's left leg, looking for a takedown. Baker pushes down on Carzola's head and hops out. Baker misses with a two punch combination.
Carzola misses with a takedown attempt and Baker counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Donk. Baker catches Carzola right on the button with a cross. Baker connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Baker takes a swing at Carzola's ribcage but misses. Carzola gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Baker throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Baker throws a one two combo.
Carzola dives in for a single leg takedown but Baker sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Diego Carzola. That's going to take a lot out of him. Carzola tries for a takedown. No joy.
Carzola is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. A right hand to the body from Baker.
Carzola is breathing heavily. Baker gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Carzola.
Baker gets through Carzola's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Carzola has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
That's one minute gone in the round. A nice right hand lands inside from Baker. A short uppercut from Baker. Baker lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Carzola or not. Baker throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Carzolas head. Baker works on Carzola's body with a couple of short punches. Baker softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Baker is working Carzola over against the cage. Baker working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely. This has been an exciting period of action! Baker softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Baker lands a body punch. Baker pushes Carzola back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Carzola is rocked! Baker lands a big right hand that drops Carzola! The killer instinct kicks in and Baker finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Baker!
