Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Virgil Buchanan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jason Estes!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, John Kavanagh and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Estes drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Estes controls from within his opponent's guard.
Estes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
It looks like Virgil Buchanan has been cut.
Estes looking to sit in guard and control but Buchanan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Estes wants to stand and escape but Buchanan is having none of it.
Estes is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Estes has his foot on Buchanan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Buchanan works his way back into a safe position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Estes has his feet on Buchanan's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Estes fails in his attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Estes looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Estes feints and as Buchanan raises his hands in defense, Estes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Estes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Buchanan works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Estes trying to control but Buchanan is working from the bottom.
Buchanan is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Estes throwing strikes from guard but Buchanan blocks nicely.
Buchanan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Estes gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Estes chips away with some ground and pound.
Estes connects with a couple of short punches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Estes pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Buchanan is keeping the position for now.
Buchanan wants to sweep but no luck.
Estes is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Estes working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Buchanan has momentary wrist control but Estes slips an elbow through the middle.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Estes gets to his feet and stands over Buchanan, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Buchanan felt that one! Estes unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Buchanan from any more punishment!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jason Estes!
