Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 33 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Melvin Manhoef! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Luis Alberto Perez! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paulsen Ambrosius and Daniel Blasius.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Perez misses with a head kick.
Perez avoids the body shot from Manhoef.
Perez drives through and clinches with Manhoef against the ropes.
Our sources have told us that Manhoef has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Manhoef lands a right hand. Perez misses with a knee strike.
Manhoef lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Perez. Manhoef breaks from the clinch.
Manhoef lands a nice leg kick that just misses Perez's sensitive parts. Manhoef throws a leg kick but Perez moved away. Perez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Perez lands with a thumping leg kick.

It looks like Luis Alberto Perez has been cut. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Perez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Manhoef throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Perez stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Melvin Manhoef seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Perez connects with a right hand. Manhoef shakes it off. Manhoef misses with a wild combination.
Perez tries to clinch but Manhoef is having none of it. Perez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Manhoef tries to bum rush Perez with a series of wild strikes but Perez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Manhoef throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Manhoef digs a good body shot into Perez's ribs. Manhoef throws a nice looking combination but Perez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Manhoef rushes Perez with punches - Perez moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Perez goes down! Manhoef follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Melvin Manhoef! After winning the bout, Melvin Manhoef thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
