Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Griffon Hunt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Coles! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hunt blocks a jab. Coles looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Coles drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Hunt dives on top into guard. Hunt wants to control from the top but Coles keeps moving. Hunt pushes down on Coles's leg and manages to get into half guard. Coles wants to get back to full guard. Hunt is looking to take a break and control but Coles is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Coles punching from the bottom.
Hunt seems to be looking for submissions.
Coles looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Coles makes his way to full guard, as Hunt worked for a kimura.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunt trying to control but Coles is working from the bottom. Coles has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hunt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Coles looking for a sweep. Not yet Coles, not yet. Coles throws his legs up looking for a submission but Hunt uses it to pass to side control.
Coles looks gassed! Hunt wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Coles, who protects the arm well. Hunt wants to control but Coles is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hunt tries for a kimura but Coles is defending well. Coles tries to bench press Hunt off him but Hunt keeps the position. Coles is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Hunt looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Coles lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Nice sprawl there from Hunt as Coles shoots in. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Coles. Hunt swats away the attempt to clinch by Coles. Coles shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Hunt is looking to get to half guard. Coles works his way to his opponent's back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Coles is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Hunt is tapping out! This one is all over!
