Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Hassan Mason! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kalle Lukko! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mason closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Lukko looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Still in half guard, Mason seems content to control. Lukko is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mason pulls his head out easily. Mason performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Hassan Mason has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Mason shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lukko's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mason showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Mason postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Mason works over Lukko with some ground and pound from guard. Mason's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Hassan Mason has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Mason fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Lukko sprawls well initially but Mason persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Mason is controlling the pace.
Mason's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mason is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mason with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Lukko tries to get to full guard but Mason has control of the leg. Mason keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hassan Mason. Lukko gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mason to score an easy takedown into full guard. Mason has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lukko is proving hard to escape from. Mason controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mason wants to stand but Lukko is controlling his posture from full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mason scores with a takedown into Lukko's guard. Mason's corner is telling him to maintain position. Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Helsinki inform us that Lukko has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off? Lukko throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Mason escapes and throws Lukko's legs to the side, diving into side control! Mason wants to stand but Lukko has his arm trapped. Lukko is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Mason stands up and we're back to a striking position. Mason shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Lukko can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mason controls the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Hassan Mason wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Mason gets a takedown into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mason decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Mason shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Mason seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Hassan Mason dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Mason feints and as Lukko raises his hands in defense, Mason changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Mason is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Mason has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lukko looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Well, if Mason is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
