PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Leduc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Petr Jakovlev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leduc comes to the cage accompanied by Lose yourself. Jakovlev is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Devour. Petr Jakovlev acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Leduc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Petr Jakovlev!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Aleksandr Martynov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leduc is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jakovlev.
Leduc slips under a jab from Jakovlev.
Leduc takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Jakovlev tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Leduc manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Leduc misses with a looping left.
Jakovlev lands with a nice combination. Leduc backs away looking to recover.
Jakovlev bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Jakovlev throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Leduc.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Jakovlev, as that shot connected.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Jakovlev shoots and misses
and Leduc counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Jakovlev throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Leduc tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jakovlev is in Leduc's guard.

Jakovlev throws an elbow that misses. Leduc uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jakovlev's guard. Nice move by Leduc!

Jakovlev had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Leduc defends it easily.

Jakovlev is looking to control Leduc's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jakovlev avoid being mounted?
Jakovlev is looking for a sweep. Leduc is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Leduc sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jakovlev defending well though.
Jakovlev is staying active underneath Leduc, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Leduc lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Leduc is looking to advance position but Jakovlev won't allow it.

Leduc looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Jakovlev regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Leduc.

Jakovlev is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Jakovlev has momentary wrist control but Leduc slips an elbow through the middle.
Jakovlev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Leduc is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Leduc is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jakovlev is trying to control the position but Leduc postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Leduc is working Jakovlev over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Jakovlev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Leduc can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Leduc will probably get the nod.

Jakovlev misses with a double jab.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Jakovlev.

Leduc is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Leduc is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Demon's Progym, LOP, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
You can see the frustration on Leduc's face as Jakovlev controls the position.

Leduc has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jakovlev is working away from the top position though.

Leduc is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jakovlev's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jakovlev's back!

Jakovlev throws a strike but Leduc rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A close second round but Petr Jakovlev will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

and Jakovlev counters with a series of strikes. Leduc will be more careful next time no doubt.

Jakovlev will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Leduc slips a jab and a cross from Jakovlev.
Jakovlev shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Leduc eats them both and turns towards Jakovlev to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Jakovlev wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

and Leduc counters with a head kick that drops Jakovlev to the mat! Jakovlev scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!


Jakovlev is rocked!
Joe Leduc has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Petr Jakovlev.
Leduc is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Jakovlev flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Jakovlev is out cold! Leduc holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Joe Leduc!
A very excited looking Joe Leduc made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
