PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Fagg Bag (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lou Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Fagg Bag!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Lou Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Richard Clark and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bag closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bag lands in his opponent's guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Bag stops Thomas from standing up.
Bag is pushing down on Thomas's leg trying to pass to half guard. Thomas is fighting to maintain full guard but Bag has managed to sneak the leg through.
Thomas is trying to stand back up but Bag is controlling him
Bag trying to control the pace.

Bag gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Bag swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bag changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Thomas tries to avoid it but Bag manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Thomas to the ground. Thomas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Bag shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Thomas defends it nicely.
Bag slips a jab from Thomas.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bag tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lou Thomas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bag keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Thomas.
Thomas scores with a shot to the body.
Bag fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thomas avoids it really well and circles away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fagg Bag. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Thomas rushes Bag and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A short right from Thomas.
Thomas unloads a knee to the mid-section.
Thomas tries a knee to the head but Bag blocks it.
Thomas is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bag is defending well for now.
Bag trying to stall but Thomas improves his position.
Bag fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Bag takes a shot to the head.

Bag jumps guard and drags Thomas to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Thomas really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bag. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bag is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Bag trying to control the pace.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thomas is trying to stand up here but Bag is controlling him well.

Bag stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Thomas leaves Bag with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Lou Thomas is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Bag with a lazy takedown attempt
and Thomas counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Thomas wants to clinch.
Thomas tries to clinch up but Bag circles away and keeps his distance.

Thomas swinging wildly here.
Thomas circles away from the clinch attempt.
Bag has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bag there as he acknowledges the shot.
Thomas misses with a double jab.
A cross from Thomas lands.
Thomas connects with a looping right hand.
A lazy left from Thomas finds it's target.
Thomas stuffs the takedown attempt from Bag. Bag gets slowly back to his feet.
Bag tries for a takedown but Thomas sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Thomas pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bag scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Thomas is being controlled here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bag is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Thomas looks calm but he's in trouble here. Bag gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Thomas is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Bag lets go of the hold and Thomas can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Fagg Bag!
