The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracien rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Silva moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Silva shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gracien cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Silva has Gracien up against the cage in a clinch.
Silva missing with knees to the body.
Gracien could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Gracien lands a nice shot to the body.
Silva tries to pull guard but Gracien holds him up against the cage and eventually Silva drops back down to his feet.
Silva tries for a takedown but Gracien manages to get underhooks.
Royce Gracien has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wanderlei Silva.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Gracien creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Gracien lands a shoulder strike.

Gracien lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Silva to his knees! Gracien keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!
