Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Koji Sobando! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Robert Bennett! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Winston Alpacca and Dirk Anderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sobando's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Bennett connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Sobando scrambles back to his feet. Sobando throws a combination that misses and Bennett counters with a stiff right hand. Bennett looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Bennett stuffs the takedown. Sobando throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A decent looking cross lands there for Bennett. Bennett stuffs the takedown. Sobando closes the distance and clinches up with Bennett, looking for a takedown. Sobando pushes Bennett against the cage but Bennett circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Koji Sobando. That's going to take a lot out of him. Bennett lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
This has been an exciting period of action! Sobando closes this distance looking for a takedown but Bennett circles away. Nice jab there from Bennett. Sobando throws a combination that misses and Bennett counters with a right hand to the body. Bennett circles away from the clinch attempt and Bennett counters with a crisp one two that drops Sobando! Bennett thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Sobando to his feet! Sobando is in big trouble!
Sobando is rocked! Bennett pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Bennett connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sobando momentarily.
Oh Sobando is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
That's one minute gone in the round. Sobando blocks a jab. Sobando defending well as Bennett loads up on a big left hand. Bennett throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Sobando moves out of range of the strikes. Bennett misses with an uppercut. A big right from Bennett misses. Bennett pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Sobando ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Bennett waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Sobando. Sobando seems to have got his legs back now. Sobando shoots in for a takedown but Bennett shows good takedown defense. Bennett scores with a jab. Sobando acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Sobando gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Bennett gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Sobando is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!
