The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lirette doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Szczerbiec cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Szczerbiec stuffs the takedown.
Szczerbiec lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Lirette fails with a takedown attempt.
Patryk Szczerbiec has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Travis Lirette.
Szczerbiec darts in trying to clinch
and Lirette counters with a nice double leg into side control. Szczerbiec won't be happy with that.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Szczerbiec is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Szczerbiec wants to get back to his feet but Lirette is dominant here and he's now got Szczerbiec's back!

Szczerbiec is trying to get back to his feet but Lirette has full control of the position and if anything, Szczerbiec has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Szczerbiec looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Szczerbiec has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
