PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Guy Cochrane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Rekis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rekis has chosen AC/DC - Thunderstruck as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Guy Cochrane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Rekis!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rekis with a lazy takedown attempt
letting Cochrane counter with a right hand.
Cochrane jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Cochrane ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Cochrane cracks Rekis with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Cochrane misses with a two punch combination.
Cochrane lands with a straight right. Rekis didn't see that one coming.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Rekis has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Cochrane throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rekis.

Rekis manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cochrane on his heels. He'll look to pass Cochrane's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Cochrane is looking for a sweep. Rekis is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Rekis lands a nice short elbow.

John Rekis showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Rekis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cochrane with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Cochrane is rocked!

Rekis throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Cochrane has his hands clasped together but Rekis breaks the hold and Cochrane is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Rekis!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). John Rekis!
After winning the bout, John Rekis thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
