Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jim Wimms! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Natural Tahuti! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Bart Greer and Winston Alpacca.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tahuti tries to bum rush Wimms with a series of wild strikes but Wimms uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Tahuti scoring well with a low kick there.
Wimms takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket. Tahuti pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Wimms back to the cage. Tahuti follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Wimms swings for the body but Tahuti moves out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wimms pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Tahuti darts in trying to clinch and Wimms counters with a nice double leg into guard. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Wimms sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Tahuti's guard. Wimms is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Wimms not doing much here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wimms tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tahuti knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Wimms frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Tahuti is trying to escape the mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wimms sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wimms wants to take his opponent's back but instead Tahuti manages to regain half guard. Wimms looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Wimms is taking a breather. Tahuti says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Wimms is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Wimms wants to control the pace but Tahuti is squirming around nicely. Tahuti is trying desperately to improve position. Poor strikes thrown by Wimms there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Tahuti slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Wimms looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Wimms is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wimms content to control rather than advance. Wimms looks to land a strike but Tahuti avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Wimms has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Wimms wants to pass the guard but Tahuti is keeping the position. Tahuti throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wimms wants to pass the guard but Tahuti is keeping the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jim Wimms will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jim Wimms's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Wimms throws a hook but Tahuti blocks it. Tahuti throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. Tahuti scores with a one two! Wimms had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. We've been informed that Tahuti has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight. Tahuti gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wimms to score an easy takedown into full guard. Wimms seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Tahuti has an active guard here but Wimms has managed to pass into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action! Wimms is pressing down on Tahuti's thigh, looking to free his foot. Tahuti is holding on for now.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tahuti moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Wimms stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tahuti swivels though and keeps the full guard. Wimms not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Wimms trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wimms controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tahuti looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Jim Wimms overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Wimms trying to move into half guard but instead Tahuti has managed to sweep! Wimms wants to sweep here but Tahuti controlling him for the moment. Wimms wants to improve his position but instead Tahuti has moved into half guard.
Wimms wants to control but Tahuti is keeping busy and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tahuti is trying to control. Wimms wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Wimms holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Wimms on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Wimms tries to get out of the position. Tahuti wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wimms keeps working. Wimms wants to control but Tahuti is keeping busy and won't allow it. Tahuti is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wimms sees it coming and defends easily. Wimms tries to get to full guard but Tahuti has control of the leg. Wimms manages to get to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wimms has his hands on Tahuti's head, controlling the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Wimms is on top in guard.
Wimms showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tahuti keeping moving, preventing Wimms from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jim Wimms dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Jim Wimms's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Tahuti fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Wimms takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Natural Tahuti seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wimms stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Tahuti. Tahuti fails with an attempt to clinch.

Tahuti lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wimms circles away quickly and effectively. Tahuti throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Tahuti misses with a two punch combination.
Wimms blocks a head kick by Tahuti.
Natural Tahuti seems to be getting the better of the standup. Tahuti moves out of range of the strikes. Tahuti fails to land with a series of punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tahuti stalks Wimms and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Wimms's face. Wimms staggers backwards, shaken.
Jim Wimms's cut is getting worse. Wimms blocks the body kick.
Tahuti throws a head kick that Wimms semi-blocks.
Tahuti lands a glancing blow to the side of Wimms's head. Wimms moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Tahuti connects with a high kick. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wimms gets a takedown into half guard. Wimms trying to pass the guard but Tahuti defending well. Wimms controlling the pace.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tahuti wants to control the action here but instead Wimms manages to pass to full mount! Wimms sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Wimms goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Tahuti turns into him and now he's in Wimms's guard.
Wimms tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Wimms is working hard here to advance position. Natural Tahuti has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Wimms is adopting a defensive guard. Tahuti pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wimms is keeping the position for now.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Tahuti rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Wimms moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Tahuti lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Tahuti. A combination from Tahuti does no damage. Tahuti lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. No joy there for Tahuti, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Tahuti takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Tahuti looks to land a combination but Wimms avoids it well. Good standup being displayed there by Tahuti as he connects with a hook. Natural Tahuti is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Wimms takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Jim Wimms's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Wimms has closed the distance and engaged Tahuti in a clinch.
Wimms swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Wimms struggles to land a body shot inside as Tahuti controls his hands.
And that's the end of the fight! Natural Tahuti comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Wimms has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
