Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tre Spar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
13 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Chaney! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Tiny Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Spar moves into the clinch successfully.
Spar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Chaney doesn't manage to clinch there - Spar circles away.
Spar drives through and clinches with Chaney against the cage.
Spar gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Spar trying to stand up but can't free himself from Chaney's guard. Spar stands up and waves to Chaney to follow him. Chaney gets tackled into the cage by Spar. Spar maintains the clinch. Spar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Spar darts in and out, connecting with a jab. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chaney fails in his attempt to clinch. Spar moves into range and clinches up with Chaney. Chaney is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Spar works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Spar wants to stand but Chaney has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Spar looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Chaney throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Spar would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Spar knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chaney on the ground. Spar is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Tre Spar just wasn't active enough. Chaney tries to clinch but Spar moves away and Spar counters with a one-two to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spar instigates a clinch. Chaney is trying to pull guard but Spar has him pressed against the cage. Spar gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spar not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tre Spar wasn't doing enough on the ground. Chaney gets tackled into the cage by Spar. Spar maintains the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spar scores with a hook to the body. Chaney takes an elbow to the temple. Spar escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Chaney goes for a double leg but Spar avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Spar continues to drive forward. Spar manages to break the clinch.
Chaney pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Spar clinches up against the cage. Spar has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Chaney regains guard immediately. Spar sitting in guard here, content to control. Spar gets to his feet - Chaney follows without any prompting. Chaney is trying hard to land a takedown here. Spar sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Tre Spar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Chaney. Spar stuffs the takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Spar closes the distance and clinches. Spar turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Spar happy to just control the position for now. Chaney is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Chaney is trying to control Spar's posture but Spar avoids it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Spar decides to take the fight back to the feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tre Spar dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Chaney fails to land the takedown. Spar closes the distance and pushes Chaney back into the cage. Spar gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Chaney regains guard.
Spar stands up and waves to Chaney to follow him. James Chaney is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Spar closes the distance and pushes Chaney back into the cage. Spar lands a body shot in the clinch.
Spar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Spar moves into range and clinches up with Chaney. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Spar decides to pull guard. Spar is controlling Chaney's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chaney pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Spar is keeping the position for now. Spar managing to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tre Spar wasn't doing enough on the ground. Spar pushes Chaney up against the cage in a clinch. Chaney tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Spar smiles and moves away.
Chaney takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chaney tries to keep at a distance but Spar has taken the fight into the clinch. Spar is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Chaney can't fight it off and eventually Spar manages to take the fight to the floor. Chaney looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Spar stands up from Chaney's guard - Spar perhaps looking for a knockout. Spar clinches with his opponent.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Spar decides to pull guard. Chaney throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Spar works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Chaney trying to control but Spar is working from the bottom. Spar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Chaney can do to turn this around? Spar pulls Chaney in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chaney trying to control the position from guard on top but Spar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
James Chaney has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Chaney takes a shot right to the bread basket. Chaney tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Spar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Chaney pivots, looking for a leg kick but Spar is out of range and Chaney settles back down. Chaney misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Spar.

Spar lands with a straight right. Chaney didn't see that one coming. Spar lands a jab to Chaney's midsection. Spar scores with a hook to the body. Chaney takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Spar lands a big head kick that sends Chaney tumbling to the mat! Spar takes a step backwards and waves Chaney back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like James Chaney has been cut. Spar clinches up with Chaney and pushes him back against the cage. Spar gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Spar stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Spar lands a nice shot that snaps Chaney's head back.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Spar has managed to clinch.
Spar turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Spar manages to end up in side control. Spar decides to stand back up. Spar steps back and let's Chaney get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Tre Spar dominated that second round. The cut man is working on James Chaney's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Chaney moves in looking to clinch but Spar pushes him off. Spar takes the fight into the clinch. Chaney drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Chaney has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Spar avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Spar gets a nice trip takedown into half guard. Chaney has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Spar is working away from the top position though. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Spar in particular looking to stall. Chaney flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Spar moves into range and clinches up with Chaney. Spar has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Chaney clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Spar keeps control of the position easily here as Chaney tries to buck him off.
Tre Spar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Spar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Tre Spar. Spar pushes Chaney up against the cage in a clinch.

Tre Spar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Chaney. Spar has clasped his hands together around Chaney's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Spar decides to stand up, so the ref orders Chaney to his feet. Spar keeps the fight on the outside. Spar clinches up with Chaney and pushes him back against the cage. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Spar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chaney goes for a double leg but Spar avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Spar continues to drive forward. Spar unloads a knee to the mid-section. Chaney lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. This has been an exciting period of action! Chaney is fighting off a takedown attempt but Spar is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Chaney to the mat. Chaney regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Spar has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Chaney is proving hard to escape from. Spar wants to stand and escape but instead Chaney has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Chaney trying to control the position from guard on top but Spar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Spar is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control. James Chaney has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Tre Spar is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
And that's the end of the fight! Tre Spar showed his dominance in that final round. Well Spar has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
