Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Bansa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Hicks! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Wesley Smith and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hicks tries to score a power double leg takedown but Bansa sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hicks somewhat. Bansa throws a head kick that misses. Bansa throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Bansa fails to land with a series of punches.
Hicks goes for a double leg but Bansa avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Bansa continues to drive forward. Hicks tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Hicks is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Bansa is defending well for now. Hicks is looking for a takedown. Mike Bansa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Hicks. Hicks looks winded! Hicks wants a takedown.
A left hand lands to the body for Bansa.
Hicks tries to land knees in the clinch but Bansa avoids the damage to the body. Bansa landing knees to the body.

It looks like Tony Hicks has been cut. Bansa works on Hicks's body with a couple of short punches.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bansa crunches a lovely knee into Hicks's ribcage. Bansa lands a knee to the body.
Hicks takes an elbow to the temple. Bansa lands a body shot in the clinch.
Bansa lands an elbow inside. Bansa lands a knee to the head.
Bansa lands an elbow inside. Bansa pushes Hicks back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Bansa obliges. Bansa lands a big knee from the Thai clinch and Hicks goes down hard! The ref takes a good look at him but he's still defending himself. Bansa in side control.
Hicks is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Bansa works to advance to full mount. Hicks defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Hicks is still in real trouble! Can Bansa finish him? Bansa loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Hicks scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Bansa land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Bansa stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Bansa!
