Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Pat Price! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Derek Lynch! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Price tries to clinch but fails miserably and Lynch counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Price is trying to get back to full guard. Price trying to hold on to Lynch's head to control him but Lynch postures up.
Price is staying active underneath Lynch, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Price is trying to maintain the position but Lynch is very close to passing his half guard. Lynch wants to pass the guard but Price is defending well. Lynch wants to work for an arm triangle but Price is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Price is trying to get back to full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lynch wants to pass the guard but Price is defending well. Lynch stalling away here and it's allowed Price to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Price keeping full guard, as Lynch tries to pass. Lynch pushes down on Price's leg and manages to get into half guard. Price is looking to control Lynch's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Price avoid being mounted?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lynch is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Price is not content to let Lynch control the position. Lynch tries to pass to full mount but Price defends it. Price trying to control but Lynch postures up.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Lynch decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Lynch seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Price does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lynch is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Price keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Lynch controlling the position easily from mount. Price wants to control but Lynch is having none of it. Lynch wants to control the action but instead Price gets a body lock and reverses into Lynch's guard! Nice work!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lynch keeping moving, preventing Price from controlling successfully. Price stopping the sweep attempt from Lynch. Lynch is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Price controls from within his opponent's guard. Price decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Price is looking to clinch. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lynch throws a chopping leg kick but Price manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Price tries to clinch but fails miserably and Lynch counters with a nice double leg into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Price is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek Lynch dominated that round. That's time! Price's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Price checks a low kick from Lynch. Horrible takedown by Lynch or perhaps it was just good defense by Price which made him look bad. Price wants to clinch and Lynch decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Price's guard. Lynch wants to control from the top but Price keeps moving. Lynch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Price swivels though and keeps the full guard. Lynch wants to control from the top but Price keeps moving. Lynch forces his way into half guard. Lynch is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Price trying to hold on to Lynch's head to control him but Lynch postures up.
Lynch looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Lynch is just content to waste time from the top position. Price takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Lynch pushes down on Price's leg and manages to get into half guard. Lynch is looking for a kimura here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lynch is working for a kimura here but Price manages to reverse the position and he's now in Lynch's guard.
Price trying to control but Lynch is working from the bottom. Lynch has his foot on Price's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Price works his way back into a safe position though. Price slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Lynch looking for a triangle here. Price is fighting it but it looks tight! Lynch pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Price is tapping out - this one is all over!
