PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between David James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitar Miric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miric is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Slaki- Evo ti sve i idi. Mitar Miric will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mitar Miric!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miric rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but James moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Miric avoids a punch combination nicely.
Nice takedown defense from Miric. No joy for James on that attempt.
We've been told by James's head coaches at VENDETTA Elite Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
James dodges the punch combination from Miric.
James moves away from the strike by Miric.
Miric throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Miric misses with a series of wild punches.
Miric misses with a right hand
and James counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Miric loads up on a big right hand but James slips the punch.
Miric misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from James.
James drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Miric swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Good exchange - Miric coming out on top.
Miric throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

James looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Miric working a defensive guard but James manages to pass into side control anyway.
James is putting a hurting on Miric here, landing some big shots from side control.
Miric can't do much from the bottom here.
Miric is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked James off and has taken his back!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Miric is riding his opponent, not letting James buck him off.
James tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

James bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Miric trying to keep a closed guard but James is proving a slippery customer.
James trying to control but Miric is working from the bottom.
Miric really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
James is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Miric keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up because David James just wasn't active enough.
Miric stuffs the takedown attempt from James. James gets slowly back to his feet.
James takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.


It looks like David James has been cut.
Miric misses with an uppercut. James saw that one coming.
Miric swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Miric gets caught flat footed, as James shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Miric utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Miric seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
James in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Miric can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as James controls the pace.
James is fighting to break Miric's control of his arms but Miric is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
James throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
James in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Miric has momentary wrist control but James slips an elbow through the middle.
James trying to control the position from guard on top but Miric is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Miric utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Miric avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Miric keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that David James will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on David James's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Miric's waist but Miric gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
James takes one on the button.
James keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Miric throws a shot from downtown. James moves away and avoids it.
James fails with the takedown.
James moves out of range of the strikes.
Miric misses with a lunging right hand

and James counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by James.
Miric tries to stall but James uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
James creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Miric is trying to maintain a safe position but James gets an underhook and turns Miric into the cage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
James tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Miric tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Miric wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Miric lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of James backwards.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by James as Miric tries to tie him up.
Miric prevents the takedown attempt.
A battle for position here, against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miric gets underhooks to prevent James's takedown attempt.
James is working for takedown but Miric is calmly controlling the position for now.
James is trying to pull guard but Miric turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
James tries to pull guard but Miric forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Miric throws a head punch that misses.
Miric is trying to force a seperation but James has the dominant position.
Miric prevents a takedown attempt there.
Miric has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Miric scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Miric fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Miric works the jab nicely.
Miric is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Miric sizes up James with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
James misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
James moves away from the strike by Miric.
James gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Miric gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mitar Miric!
