Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ian Boxhorn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Tucker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ian Boxhorn has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ian Boxhorn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, John Tucker!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Paul Gruel and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxhorn throws a hook but Tucker avoids it easily.
Tucker slips a jab from Boxhorn.
Boxhorn looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Boxhorn lands a nice shot to the body.
Boxhorn tries to bum rush Tucker with a series of wild strikes but Tucker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Tucker throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Boxhorn tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tucker is in Boxhorn's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Tucker tries to free his leg and advance position but Boxhorn is retaining full guard.
Boxhorn seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Tucker throws a big elbow that misses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Tucker stands and throws Boxhorn's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Tucker fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Boxhorn is looking to reverse the position.
Tucker sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Boxhorn is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Tucker has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Tucker takes a little break here. Boxhorn wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Tucker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Tucker misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

John Tucker dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Tucker changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Boxhorn tries to avoid it but Tucker manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Boxhorn to the ground. Boxhorn escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Boxhorn throws a hook but Tucker blocks it.

Tucker drops back, looking for a kneebar! Boxhorn looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Boxhorn looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Boxhorn!
Tucker is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Boxhorn's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Tucker seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Tucker wants to get back to his feet but Boxhorn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Boxhorn throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tucker works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Boxhorn won't allow Tucker to sweep him here.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Boxhorn throws a leg kick but Tucker sees it coming and moves out of range.
Tucker slips a straight right by Boxhorn.
Boxhorn displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Tucker.

Tucker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Boxhorn's waist but Boxhorn gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tucker off to one side.

Boxhorn throws a right and a left that Tucker avoids nicely.
Boxhorn lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Tucker closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Boxhorn did well to prevent Tucker getting side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

John Tucker is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Tucker tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Tucker has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

John Tucker comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Tucker winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
