PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Billie Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniele Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Serra comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Immortal kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Billie Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniele Serra!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Steven Brown and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones shoots in for a double leg but Serra sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jones looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
A thudding body kick lands there by Serra!
Serra dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Jones. That did some damage!
Jones takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Serra drives through with a takedown into guard.
Serra controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Let's hope that Serra has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Serra looking to pass the guard.
Serra is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Serra is pushing down on Jones's leg trying to pass to half guard. Jones is fighting to maintain full guard but Serra has managed to sneak the leg through.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Serra controlling the action here.

Serra stands up and beckons Jones to join him on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Serra closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Serra lands in his opponent's guard.
Serra pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now.
Serra looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Serra advances position into side control!

Serra tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Serra has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Serra has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Serra throws a shot from downtown. Jones moves away and avoids it.
A jab from Serra misses.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Serra fails to land with a series of punches.

Serra shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Jones controls Serra momentarily but Serra frees himself.
Serra tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard.
Serra cracks Jones with a solid left hand.
Serra prevents Jones from getting back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniele Serra dominated that round.
That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Jones takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Serra decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones wants to control but Serra is keeping busy.
Serra lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Serra content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Serra works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Serra controlling from mount.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Serra working for a submission but Jones is keeping him at bay.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Serra controlling from the full mount.
BOOM! Serra connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Serra stands up from mount. Strange move.
Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Serra counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Jones is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Serra decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jones, up you get!

Serra fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jones, pushing him back against the cage.

Serra has hold of one of Jones's legs. Jones is fighting the takedown attempt but Serra gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Jones is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Serra trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jones striking off his back but it's not causing Serra any problems.
Serra controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jones is trying to control the position but Serra postures up.
Serra works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Serra seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniele Serra showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

and Serra counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jones!

Serra scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Jones?
Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Serra working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Jones turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Serra off and cradles Jones's limp body as Serra celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Daniele Serra!
