Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Calvin Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Oven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
21 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Calvin Johnson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, George Oven! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Stewart Dunkirk and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Johnson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Oven counters with a low kick, right behind Johnson 's knee. Calvin Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson misses with a few strikes there.
Johnson misses with a wild body shot. Oven ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Johnson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Johnson seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Johnson thuds a left hand into Oven's body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Johnson throws an overhand right that lands on Oven's shoulder, as Oven tries to avoid the shot. Johnson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Oven. Johnson lands a big head kick that sends Oven tumbling to the mat! Johnson takes a step backwards and waves Oven back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oven is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Johnson throws a shot from downtown. Oven moves away and avoids it. Oven is still on wobbly legs! Can Johnson finish him? Johnson swings and misses with a shot to the body and Oven connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Johnson looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Oven seems to have recovered his senses. Johnson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Oven counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Johnson misses with a hook
and Oven counters with a right hand to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Johnson misses with a series of wild punches.
Johnson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Oven counters with a lovely straight right hand! Johnson throws a hook but Oven blocks it. Johnson steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Oven. Oven connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Johnson looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Johnson throws a combination that misses and Oven counters with a stiff right hand.

Oven displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Johnson throws out the jab. Oven connects with an inside leg kick. A big left from Johnson misses. Johnson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Oven to counter with a crisp jab. Oven has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Johnson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Oven moves away. Johnson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Johnson swings for the body but Oven moves out of range.
Johnson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Oven was well out of range. Poor timing from Johnson. A low kick from Johnson is predictable there and Oven counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. A punch combination from Johnson misses. Johnson rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Oven counters with a left to the body. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Oven blocks the body kick.
Johnson misses with a lunging right hand
and Oven counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Calvin Johnson dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Whack! Johnson lands a heavy head kick that drops Oven. The ref tackles Johnson to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Oven was done.
