Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alberto Schroeder! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Marcin Kot! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kot feints and as Schroeder raises his hands in defense, Kot changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Kot trying to control but Schroeder is working from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kot wants to pass the guard but Schroeder is keeping the position. Kot is stalling in the full guard. Schroeder really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kot wants to control from the top but Schroeder keeps moving.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Marcin Kot hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Schroeder avoids the head kick by Kot.
Kot throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Schroeder tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kot is in Schroeder's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schroeder is looking for a triangle here but Kot uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Kot controlling from side mount. Kot tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Kot has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Schroeder pushes Kot away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Kot gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kot is looking to take a break and control but Schroeder is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kot stands up. Marcin Kot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kot gets a clinch. Schroeder jumps guard but Kot stands there with Schroeder around his waist. Schroeder gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Kot decides to pull guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kot controls Schroeder momentarily but Schroeder frees himself. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Schroeder has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kot is proving hard to escape from. Kot looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Schroeder cracks Kot with a solid left hand. Kot pulls Schroeder in close to prevent any damage. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Schroeder is posturing up here but Kot has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Schroeder tries to roll out but it's too tight and Schroeder has to tap! Slick submission there by Kot!
