Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Eagles Giants! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex James! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Giants's half guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. James sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Giants defending well though. Giants is trying to control but can't.
James not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. James missing with the ground and pound from half guard. James with the ground and pound but Giants uses the opportunity to regain guard. Giants avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. James is looking to work some ground and pound but Giants has wrist control. Giants controlling James's posture. James with a flurry of punches that miss. James lands a couple of decent looking shots. Giants is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. This has been an exciting period of action! James throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Giants works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! James throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. James postures up and lands a big shot to Giants's brow. James stands up over Giants, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Giants preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. James trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. James loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Giants controls James momentarily but James frees himself. James throws a strike but Giants rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Giants accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. James is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Giants is controlling him. Giants trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Giants trying to stand up but can't free himself from James's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Giants won't allow James to get back to his feet. James keeping moving, preventing Giants from controlling successfully.
We're going to have a standup here because Eagles Giants wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. A jab from Giants does it's job there. James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Giants tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Giants to the ground. Giants escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A jab from Giants misses. Giants tries to sprawl but James drives through with a takedown into half guard. Giants slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. James won't allow Giants to sweep him here. James working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Giants bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in James's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! James has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Giants is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position. James looking for a takedown.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Giants stops a takedown attempt from James.
Eagles Giants has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex James. Giants stalls. Giants lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Giants breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
James slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. James is trying hard to land a takedown here. Giants sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. James cracks Giants with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. James shoots in but no luck this time. James doesn't succeed with the takedown and Giants counters with a nice low kick that buckles James's knee momentarily. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! James looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Giants is fending him off so far but James persists. Nope, Giants circles away and we're back to standing. James shoots in for a double leg but Giants sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. A decent looking cross lands there for Giants. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alex James dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Giants scores with a push kick. Nice body kick there by Giants. James shoots in but no luck this time. Alex James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Giants moves into range and connects with a jab. James shoots in for a takedown but Giants shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Giants swinging wildly here.
James takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Giants's waist but Giants gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side. Eagles Giants has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex James. Giants tries to land a front kick but James steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. James drives through with a takedown into Giants's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Giants working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from James. James loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. James is breathing heavily. James felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Giants goes for an armbar but he's not got it… James turns into him and now he's in Giants's guard.

James is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Giants presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. James is looking to take this one to the mat. Giants swings wildly with an uppercut but James uses good head movement to avoid it. Giants's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Giants's waist but Giants gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side. James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Giants but Giants pushes him off and we're back to square one. James sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! James on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Both fighters circling a little - Giants finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Giants thumps James with a low kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Eagles Giants will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Giants lands a head kick!
James shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Giants pinned against the cage. Giants gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. James fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Giants avoids it really well and circles away. James fails to land the takedown. Eagles Giants has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alex James. Giants getting the better of the striking in that exchange. James shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Giants defends it nicely. James takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. James fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That kick from Giants tenderised James's leg. James is trying to keep his angry face on. Eagles Giants is winning the standup battle so far.
That's one minute gone in the round. Giants lands a nice leg kick that just misses James's sensitive parts. James chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Giants can pounce on him.
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Giants tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Giants to the ground. Giants escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. A slapping leg kick lands for Giants.
Giants misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Giants connects with an inside leg kick. James shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Giants makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. James with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Giants to score with a decent uppercut. James's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Giants lands a front kick. Giants lands a high kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Giants throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Giants stuffs the takedown attempt from James. James gets slowly back to his feet. Good leg kick by Giants there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
That's two minutes gone in the round. James sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Giants scores with a push kick. James misses with a takedown and Giants counters with a straight punch to the midsection. James tries for a takedown but Giants sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Giants throws a leg kick which misses James's front leg but catches the back leg as James tries to avoid it. Giants connects with the punch.
James is rocked! Giants throws an uppercut from hell that sends James clean off his feet! He's out cold! Giants stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
