Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Geoff George (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jaye Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaye Wong is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

1 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jaye Wong! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Leandro Rodrigues and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! George gets a takedown into half guard. Wong looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! George seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. George's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. George looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wong with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. George seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. George moves nicely into side control. Wong is trying to get back to half guard.

George perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. George drops an elbow to the side of Wong's head. Wong is breathing heavily. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

George looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
We're going to have a standup here because Geoff George wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. George shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Wong pinned against the cage. Wong gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. George gets a double leg takedown into Wong's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. George controls the pace of the fight for a moment. George would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Geoff George. Wong avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

George is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Wong can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
George controlling the pace for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Geoff George dominated that second round. That's time! George's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
George scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. George content to control rather than advance. George is looking for a kimura but Wong is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for George to get the leverage. George is taking a breather. Wong says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. George seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Wong takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. George looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. George lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

George slips a nice elbow through Wong's hands, connecting with Wong's forehead. George escapes and gets back to his feet. George closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

George passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Wong! George takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! George working away from the top, dropping strikes. George is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Wong is surviving well by controlling George's body position as best he can. Wong is trying desperately to improve position.
