Kubach comes to the cage accompanied by What happened? by H2O. Anthony Johnson has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Fran Kubach's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Bruno Lombardi and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kubach swivels and escapes.
A nice leg kick lands there from Kubach.
Johnson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Kubach sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Johnson tries to bum rush Kubach with a series of wild strikes but Kubach uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kubach shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Johnson pinned against the cage. Johnson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kubach shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Johnson clinches but Kubach breaks the clinch
so Kubach counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kubach is breathing heavily.
Johnson will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Kubach tries to stand but Johnson is controlling from the bottom.
Johnson is looking for a triangle but Kubach pushes his legs off easily.

and Kubach decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Johnson's guard.

Johnson jumps guard and drags Kubach to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Johnson thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Johnson is trying to move to mount but Kubach reverses beautifully and ends up in Johnson's guard.

Kubach has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Johnson is proving hard to escape from.
Fran Kubach overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Johnson has his feet on Kubach's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
