Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Lavern Wyatt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Ortega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ryan Ortega will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lavern Wyatt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ryan Ortega! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ortega clinches. Ortega wants the takedown. Wyatt is fighting it off but Ortega persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Wyatt's guard against the cage. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Wyatt keeping moving, preventing Ortega from controlling successfully. Wyatt is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ortega is aware though and is defending well. Ortega sitting in guard here, content to control. Wyatt is looking for a triangle but Ortega pushes his legs off easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Wyatt is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ortega pulls his head out easily. Ortega is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Ortega wants to free his trapped foot but Wyatt is holding on for dear life with his legs. Wyatt throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Ortega manages to pass to side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ortega misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Ortega thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Wyatt is looking for a sweep. Ortega wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wyatt keeps working. Ortega working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Wyatt manages to work his way to half guard, despite Ortega's best efforts. Wyatt is trying to get back to full guard. Wyatt could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Wyatt avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Ortega. Ortega wants to take a breather but Wyatt is having none of it. Ortega thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wyatt's head. Ortega seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wyatt does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Wyatt works his way to full guard. Good work. Wyatt has an active guard here but Ortega has managed to pass into half guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Ortega wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wyatt keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ortega drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Wyatt tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Ortega wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Ortega tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ortega has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! The strikes coming from Ortega are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Wyatt is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Ortega off and has taken his back! Ortega looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment. Wyatt is hanging on to Ortega's back as he tries to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ortega is still trying to improve position. Ortega has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Wyatt patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Wyatt somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back. Ortega rolls, trying to escape but Wyatt keeps control of the position.

Ortega thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Wyatt covering up well and avoiding damage. Ortega has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Wyatt has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

And that's the end of the fight! Ryan Ortega comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Ortega has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
