Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leroy Mckenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Fuego (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Leroy Mckenzie has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Leroy Mckenzie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Fuego!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mckenzie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Fuego manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Fuego actively working from the bottom here.
Fuego holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Fuego gets back to full guard.
Mckenzie has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Mckenzie got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fuego has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Mckenzie has managed to get both his arms back between Fuego's legs - danger averted.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fuego is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Leroy Mckenzie has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Fuego shoots in for a double leg but Mckenzie sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Jose Fuego seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mckenzie drives through and clinches with Fuego against the cage.
Mckenzie is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Fuego is defending well for now.

Mckenzie is pressed up against the cage. Fuego has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mckenzie down to the mat. Mckenzie avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Fuego will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Fuego is adopting a defensive guard.
Mckenzie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Mckenzie throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Fuego tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mckenzie is in Fuego's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Leroy Mckenzie wasn't doing enough on the ground.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Fuego throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fuego doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Mckenzie counters with a good low kick that Fuego was not able to check.

Mckenzie has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Fuego regains guard immediately.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Mckenzie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fuego bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mckenzie's guard.
Mckenzie is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Fuego wants to control from the top but Mckenzie keeps moving.
Fuego is breathing heavily.
Mckenzie is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Fuego passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Fuego is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mckenzie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Fuego is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mckenzie has escaped the position, nice work there.

Fuego is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mckenzie is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mckenzie is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Fuego is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Fuego sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mckenzie's guard.

Fuego takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mckenzie is trying to maintain the position but Fuego is very close to passing his half guard.

Mckenzie knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fuego on the ground.

Fuego can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Mckenzie is looking to escape.

Fuego goes for an armbar but Mckenzie turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mckenzie.

Fuego looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Mckenzie has picked Fuego up and slammed him! Fuego can't keep hold of the triangle and Mckenzie manages to pass to side control!

And that's the end of the fight!
Jose Fuego comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Fuego has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
