Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chauncey Hancock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leif Carroll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chauncey Hancock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Leif Carroll!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hancock tries to score a power double leg takedown but Carroll sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hancock somewhat.
Hancock misses with a takedown

and Carroll counters by moving into the clinch.

Hancock has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Carroll uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Carroll throwing strikes but missing.

Hancock is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Carroll lands a couple of elbows.
Carroll is working Hancock over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hancock working a defensive guard here.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Carroll accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hancock is trying to hold Carroll in close to prevent damage but Carroll has managed to pass into half guard.
Carroll working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hancock is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Carroll's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Carroll's back!
Carroll covering up well and avoiding damage.

Hancock is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
Carroll breaks Hancock's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

Carroll decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hancock, up you get!
Hancock shoots in looking for a takedown. Carroll tries to sprawl out of it but Hancock keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Carroll manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chauncey Hancock. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carroll throws a head kick but Hancock moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Hancock gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Hancock fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Carroll managing to block the knees to the body from Hancock.

Carroll gets a trip takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hancock wants to control but Carroll is keeping busy.
Hancock tries to get to full guard but Carroll has control of the leg.
Carroll seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hancock is trying to stand back up but Carroll is controlling him
Carroll should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Hancock is breathing heavily.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Carroll lands a nice short elbow.
Hancock tries to get to full guard but Carroll has control of the leg.

Carroll is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Hancock defends it well.

Carroll thows a huge punch but Hancock dodges it nicely.
Carroll thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Hancock trying to hold on to Carroll's head to control him but Carroll postures up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Carroll working over Hancock with some ground and pound. Hancock looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.

Carroll wants to work for an arm triangle but Hancock is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Hancock is trying to control but can't.
Carroll throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carroll lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Carroll thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hancock's head.
Hancock trying to control here.
Carroll not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hancock is looking for a sweep. Carroll is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Carroll thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Carroll looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Hancock is rocked!
Carroll is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Hancock is hurt! He's hurt bad - Carroll fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Hancock from any more punishment! Congratulations to Carroll! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Leif Carroll!
