Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 1, fighting out of London, Sanford Mays!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jermain Chambers!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chambers closes the distance and pushes Mays back into the cage.

Mays pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Chambers drives through with a takedown into Mays's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Chambers controlling from the top position.
Mays wants to sweep but no luck.
Chambers tries to free his leg and advance position but Mays is retaining full guard.
Chambers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Chambers slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jermain Chambers.

Chambers gets control of Mays's arms and successfully pulls guard. Chambers will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Mays throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Mays won't allow Chambers to sweep him here.
Chambers looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Mays puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Chambers is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Mays's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Mays's back!

Chambers has got his arm under Mays's chin working for the choke… has he got it? It looks pretty tight! Oh! Mays has spun round into Chambers's guard beautifully! Well done that man!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Chambers had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Mays defends it easily.

Mays trying to control the position from guard on top but Chambers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Chambers thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Chambers is looking to stand back up but Mays counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Chambers.
Chambers is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Chambers tries to kick Mays off but Mays keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Mays gets caught flat footed, as Chambers shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Mays throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Chambers with a nice head shot there.
Chambers with a flurry of punches that miss.
Chambers loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Chambers is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Sanford Mays wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Mays blocks a leg kick.

Chambers darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Chambers throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Mays to regain full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chambers is looking to work some ground and pound but Mays has wrist control.

Mays keeping moving, preventing Chambers from controlling successfully.
Chambers throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mays works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Chambers trying to move into half guard but instead Mays has managed to sweep!

Chambers is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mays trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Chambers escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mays gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Chambers seems keen to control Mays's posture.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Chambers has an active guard here but Mays has managed to pass into half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jermain Chambers showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Chambers throws a series of punches but Mays avoids them all with ease.
Jermain Chambers seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Chambers looking to score a takedown here. Mays is defending well but Chambers drives through and ends up in Mays's guard.

Mays is not content to let Chambers control the position.
Mays tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Chambers is looking to take a break and control but Mays is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Chambers tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Chambers controlling the position.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mays is looking for a sweep.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jermain Chambers.

Chambers decides to pull guard.
Mays cracks Chambers with a solid left hand.
Jermain Chambers has got the better of the ground game so far.
Chambers trying to strike off his back.
Sanford Mays has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Jermain Chambers is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Chambers is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well Chambers has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
