Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Dong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hang Kwon!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Igor Prikhodko and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kwon throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Dong looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Kwon throws a sloppy head kick and Dong moves out of range easily.
Dong fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kwon looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Dong scores with a hook.
Dong lunges at Kwon with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Kwon's hand.
Kwon buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Dong avoids the head kick by Kwon.
Kwon misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Kwon keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kwon tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Kwon misses with a head kick.
Dong tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kwon was well out of range. Poor timing from Dong.
Mike Dong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kwon gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Dong will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Dong throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kwon sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Dong throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dong lands a two punch combo.
Kwon throws a push kick but Dong slaps the foot to one side.
Dong takes a kick to the side of the head.
Dong throws a hook to the side of Kwon's head but Kwon sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Dong lands with a right hand.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Dong smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Kwon is rocked!
Dong walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Kwon drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Dong swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Kwon's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mike Dong!
