Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Cortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Mancine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Cortez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Clint Mansell - Requiem for a dream (Remix) . This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tony Cortez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ray Mancine!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mancine looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Cortez throws a lazy head kick

and Mancine counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Mancine missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Mancine throwing shots but Cortez is blocking nicely.
Cortez is not content to let Mancine control the position.

Mancine seems to be looking for submissions.
Mancine has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mancine is nestled in close to Cortez, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Mancine seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Cortez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Mancine is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cortez is just riding it out for now. Mancine eventually gives up the hold.
We've been hearing good reports from Cortez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Cortez is looking to improve his position.
Mancine is keen to just control but Cortez is a slippery customer.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Mancine passes to side control.
Mancine tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Cortez is not content to let Mancine control the position.
Mancine creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Cortez is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Mancine can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Cortez is looking to escape.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Mancine prevents Cortez from getting the reversal.
Cortez sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mancine is just content to waste time from the top position. Cortez takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mancine won't allow Cortez to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cortez throws a head kick but Mancine moves out of range.

Mancine drives through and clinches with Cortez against the cage.
Cortez keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Mancine's efforts to push away.
Mancine takes a knee right on the jaw!
Mancine tries to break the clinch but Cortez is controlling the position.
Mancine just leaning against Cortez, taking a breather.
Cortez scores with a shot to the side of Mancine's head.
Mancine looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Cortez stalls.

Mancine breaks the clinch.
Cortez swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Mancine checks the leg kick.
Tony Cortez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cortez clinches up against the cage.
Cortez letting Mancine take a breather here.
Mancine throws a head punch that misses.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Cortez throws a knee to the head but misses.
A short uppercut from Cortez.
Mancine looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Cortez lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Cortez doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A short right from Mancine on the inside.
Mancine working hard to break the clinch.

Cortez keeps control of Mancine as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Cortez throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mancines head.

Mancine is trying to break free.
Mancine wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Cortez has him pressed against the cage.
Cortez blocks an uppercut.
A short right from Mancine.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mancine tries to break free but Cortez pushes him back against the cage.
Cortez looking to throw knees to the head but Mancine is blocking nicely.
Mancine misses with a short punch on the inside.
Cortez dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Mancine lands with a short head shot on the inside.


It looks like Tony Cortez has been cut.
Mancine wants a takedown but no success here.
A frustrated look appears on Mancine's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Cortez misses with a hook to the ribs.
Cortez with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Mancine has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Mancine breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tony Cortez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Cortez lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Mancine has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Mancine and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Cortez slips under a jab.
A bone on bone clash there as Mancine blocks the leg kick.
Mancine moves forwards but Cortez connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mancine misses with the combination.
Cortez tries to clinch but Mancine is having none of it.
Mancine connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Cortez gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Mancine to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Mancine won't allow Cortez to sweep him here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Mancine accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Mancine content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Cortez has locked up a guillotine! Cortez's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Mancine is holding on here and Cortez must be using up a lot of energy. Mancine has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Cortez gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:33 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Tony Cortez!
A relieved looking Tony Cortez thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
