Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Aldo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jonathan Sherbotsky! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aldo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sherbotsky moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sherbotsky dives in and grabs Aldo's left leg, looking for a takedown. Aldo pushes down on Sherbotsky's head and hops out. Aldo throws a right hand that Sherbotsky ducks under and follows up with a left that Sherbotsky also avoids with ease. Aldo fails to land with a series of punches.
Aldo rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Sherbotsky moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Sherbotsky dodges the punch combination from Aldo.
Sherbotsky scores with a takedown into Aldo's guard. Sherbotsky advances position into side control! Sherbotsky wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Aldo, who protects the arm well. Sherbotsky wants to control but Aldo is keeping him busy.

That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Sherbotsky has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Sherbotsky looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Sherbotsky working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Sherbotsky wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Aldo, who protects the arm well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aldo is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Sherbotsky working the head and body with strikes. Sherbotsky tries for a kimura but Aldo is defending well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sherbotsky has hold of Aldo's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Aldo seems comfortable defending it but Sherbotsky has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Aldo is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Aldo is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Sherbotsky couldn't care less - he's delighted!
