PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pepe Carlos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Untalented Bean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pepe Carlos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Untalented Bean!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlos misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bean throws a right and a left that both miss.

Carlos drives through with a takedown into Bean's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Bean wants to sweep here but Carlos controlling him for the moment.
Carlos tries to free his leg and advance position but Bean is retaining full guard.

Carlos stands up and waves to Bean to follow him.
Bean throws a combination that misses

and Carlos holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Bean is looking to take this one to the mat.

Carlos manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Bean loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Carlos is controlling Bean's posture.
Bean trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Bean won't allow Carlos to sweep him here.
Carlos will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Carlos preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Bean wants to control from the top but Carlos keeps moving.
Carlos is controlling Bean's posture.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Bean shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bean was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Carlos is looking for a sweep.

Bean is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carlos is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Bean tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bean has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Bean should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carlos is trying to get back to his feet.
Bean trying to control the position but Carlos is working away.
Carlos stops Bean from passing to mount.
Carlos tries to improve position but can't.
Carlos is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Bean off and has taken his back!
This has been an exciting period of action!
I would not like to be Bean right now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carlos lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Carlos.
Bean tries to escape the position.
Bean trying to control but not successfully.
Bean can't escape the position.
Bean wants to control his opponent's hands but Carlos gets his hands free.

Carlos looking for the RNC.

Carlos working for a choke but Bean is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carlos is not going to allow Bean to sit and survive in this position.
Carlos is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Bean is really stuck here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bean tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Carlos is working for a guillotine from mount but Bean frees his head quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Pepe Carlos will probably get the nod.
That's time! Carlos's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Carlos scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Bean shoots in for a takedown but Carlos shows good takedown defense.
Bean tries for a takedown but Carlos circles away easily

and Carlos counters by moving into the clinch.

Carlos decides to pull guard.
Carlos manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Carlos punishing his opponent with strikes.

Carlos has control of Bean's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bean regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Carlos pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Bean is bucking up trying to escape but Carlos cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Carlos with the ground and pound from mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bean is in a horrible position here. Carlos smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Bean tries to hold on but Carlos pushes him away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carlos controlling from the full mount.
Bean wants to control but Carlos is having none of it.
Carlos knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bean on the ground.
Bean tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Carlos is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Bean has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Bean!
Pepe Carlos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Carlos looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bean is one step ahead there.
Carlos trying to strike off his back.

Carlos manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bean manages to get himself to full guard.
Carlos is looking to stand up but Bean won't let him.
Bean is trying to keep Carlos in close.
Bean wants to sweep but no luck.
Carlos is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Bean looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Untalented Bean.
Carlos lands with a cross.
Bean shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carlos as he jumps to the side.
Pepe Carlos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Untalented Bean.
Bean swings widly with a right hand

and Carlos counters by moving into the clinch.
Bean takes a shot to the head.
Bean changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Carlos fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Carlos shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Carlos seems to be working for a kimura but Bean defends the submission attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pepe Carlos dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Carlos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Bean looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bean keeps trying to improve his position.
Carlos content to stall in guard here.
Carlos's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Carlos postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Carlos postures up and lands a big shot to Bean's brow.
Carlos stays in close to Bean's body and controls the position.
Bean manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Carlos is squirming around, avoiding Bean's attempts to control the action.

Bean looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bean has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Carlos's face.
Carlos is looking to get to half guard.
Bean dominating with strikes here.
Bean trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Bean manages to capitalize on a mistake by Carlos to take his back!
Carlos holding both Bean 's hands and preventing any damage.
Carlos wants to control his opponent's hands but Bean gets his hands free.

Carlos wants to escape the position.

Bean has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Carlos! Can he survive? No! He's out! Bean gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Untalented Bean!
