PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Schlock Leznar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leznar's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, The Champ by Ghostface Killah. David Abbott told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Abbott! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abbott drops Leznar with a right and a left! Abbott comes rushing in but Leznar regains his composure and manages to keep Abbott in guard.
It looks like Schlock Leznar has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Leznar manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Abbott manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Abbott is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Leznar is controlling him. Leznar cracks Abbott with a solid left hand. Abbott has his feet on Leznar's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Abbott swinging wilding here.
Abbott uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Leznar. Leznar throws a hook but Abbott blocks it. Leznar scores with a jab.
It looks like David Abbott has been cut. Abbott lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Abbott fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Abbott takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

That has opened up David Abbott's cut even more. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Leznar connects with a nice short shot to Abbott's temple. Leznar slips a nice elbow through Abbott's hands, connecting with Abbott's forehead. Abbott looks like he's trying to stand up.

Leznar takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Leznar prevents Abbott from standing back up.
Abbott has hold of Leznar's hands but Leznar slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Leznar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Leznar winds up and cracks Abbott with a swinging punch to the side of the head. The cut above David Abbott's eye is starting to cause him problems now. Leznar lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Abbott at a distance.
Leznar lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Leznar misses with a hook. Abbott misses with an uppercut. Leznar saw that one coming. Leznar looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Abbott! Leznar scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Abbott wants to try and get back to his feet. Leznar with a couple of short strikes. Abbott's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Leznar fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Leznar lands a nice shot to the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Leznar is landing with some decent strikes but Abbott is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
David Abbott's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
