PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bong Toe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Bedford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Toe's entrance music is 2Pac - Under Pressure. A fine choice. On his way into the cage it seems that Bong Toe has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Bong Toe seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bedford shoots in looking for a takedown. Toe tries to sprawl out of it but Bedford keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Toe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Toe lands a leg kick that knocks Bedford off balance momentarily.
Bedford gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Toe counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Bedford takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Bedford tries for a takedown but Toe circles away easily
and Toe counters with a nice low kick that buckles Bedford's knee momentarily.
Bong Toe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Bedford.
Toe keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Bedford changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Toe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Bedford is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Toe is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Toe is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Toe is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now.

Bedford decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Bong Toe is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A kick lands to the mid section there for Toe.
Toe lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Toe gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Toe pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Toe throws a head kick that half lands.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A punch lands to the side of Bedford 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Bedford decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Bedford is looking to take a break and control but Toe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Toe is holding on to half guard well.

Toe slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Toe looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Toe bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bedford's guard.
Bedford wants to stand but Toe is controlling the position.
Toe passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Bedford tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Toe wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
You can see the frustration on Bedford's face as Toe controls the position.
Toe's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Bedford can do anything to dispel that myth.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bong Toe dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Toe throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bedford on the side of the head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Bedford will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Toe stops a takedown attempt from Bedford.

Bedford is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bedford shoots in for a takedown but Toe shows good takedown defense.

Toe walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Bedford drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Toe swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Bedford's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
