PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Holy Diver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harvey Jackman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diver comes into the arena with Holy Diver by Dio blaring out of the sound system. Jackman has chosen DMX - It's Dark & Hell Is Hot as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Holy Diver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Harvey Jackman!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Roosa Järviläinen and Marco Blurström.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackman fails to land with a series of punches.
Jackman lands with a nice body punch.
Diver walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

It looks like Holy Diver has been cut.
Diver shoots in looking for a takedown but Jackman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Diver's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Jackman rushes Diver and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Jackman is fighting off a takedown attempt but Diver is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jackman to the mat. Jackman regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Diver with a flurry of punches that miss.
Diver throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jackman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Diver is looking to pass into half guard but Jackman pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Jackman is in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Diver looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jackman is one step ahead there.
Diver is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Harvey Jackman has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Diver is trying to drag Jackman to the mat but Jackman just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Diver is trying to trip Jackman. He has hold of a leg but Jackman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Diver persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Jackman is looking for a triangle but Diver pushes his legs off easily.
Diver wants to control from the top but Jackman keeps moving.

Diver has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Holy Diver.
Diver darts in looking for a takedown but Jackman gets double underhooks and turns Diver into the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Holy Diver. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Diver lands a takedown into guard.
Diver throws a big right hand that misses.
Jackman is trying to control the position but Diver postures up.

Diver throws a strike but Jackman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Jackman is stalling in the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Holy Diver just wasn't active enough.
Diver fails with a takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Diver shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jackman but Jackman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Holy Diver will probably get the nod.

Diver thows a huge punch but Jackman dodges it nicely.
Jackman is not content to let Diver control the position.
Diver is looking to advance position but Jackman won't allow it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jackman is staying active underneath Diver, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Jackman has hold of Diver's hands but Diver slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Still in half guard, Diver seems content to control.
Jackman is trying to maintain the position but Diver is very close to passing his half guard.
Diver is keen to just control but Jackman is a slippery customer.

Diver is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jackman doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Diver.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Jackman has managed to clinch.

Jackman's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jackman misses with a wild combination.
Jackman lands a nice hook to Diver's body. Diver takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Jackman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Diver's waist but Diver gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jackman off to one side.
Diver shoots in looking for a takedown. Jackman tries to sprawl out of it but Diver keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Jackman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Holy Diver. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Jackman makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Holy Diver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Diver shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jackman but Jackman pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Harvey Jackman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Diver is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Holy Diver is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Holy Diver just wasn't active enough.
Jackman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Diver as he jumps to the side.
