Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Francois Duvalier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cortland Cartwright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Duvalier comes to the cage accompanied by Voodoo Music. Cartwright has chosen St. Anger as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francois Duvalier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Cortland Cartwright! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good shot there by Duvalier. Cartwright shoots in for a takedown but Duvalier shows good takedown defense. Duvalier stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Duvalier wants it to stay on the feet. Cartwright fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Francois Duvalier has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Cortland Cartwright. Duvalier throws a right and a left that Cartwright avoids nicely. Cartwright fails with the takedown. Duvalier tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cartwright was well out of range. Poor timing from Duvalier. Cartwright takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cartwright goes for a double leg but Duvalier avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Duvalier continues to drive forward. Duvalier scores with a shot to the side of Cartwright's head. Duvalier lands with a right to the head. Duvalier lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Cartwright backwards. Duvalier breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Jab by Duvalier. Cartwright wants to clinch up but Duvalier keeps it at a distance. Duvalier keeps the fight on the outside. Cartwright fails with the takedown and Duvalier counters with a nice uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cartwright moves into the clinch. Cartwright told us before the fight that he's been working on his elbows. An under utilised technique these days - let's see if it can sway the outcome of the fight. Duvalier lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Cartwright has Duvalier pressed against the cage, preventing Duvalier from circling away and getting back to striking at range. I was talking to Duvalier's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Duvalier lands on the inside with an uppercut. Duvalier misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Cartwright manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Duvalier is sitting in close to Cartwright's body. Cartwright has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Duvalier is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Duvalier is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Cartwright.
