And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Calgary Alberta!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alberta tries to close the distance and clinch up but Pond swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Alberta looks to land a combination but Pond avoids it well.
Pond cracks Alberta with an open hand slap.


It looks like Calgary Alberta has been cut.
Alberta wants to clinch.
Pond circles away from the clinch attempt
letting Pond counter with a right hand.
Pond thuds his shin into the meat of Alberta's side.
We've been told by Pond's head coaches at The Lion's Den that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
No joy there for Alberta, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Pond is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Alberta looks to throw the jab but Pond is out of range.

Pond fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Alberta has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Calgary Alberta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alberta misses with a body shot.

Alberta throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Pond scores with a hook to the body. Alberta takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Alberta jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Alberta throws a right and a left that Pond avoids nicely.
Alberta feints a jab promting Pond to slip. Alberta then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Pond slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Alberta closes the distance and lands a one-two.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Pond ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Alberta on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Pond. Pond obviously looking to wear him down.
Alberta looks winded!
Alberta tries to clinch up.
Pond lands with a nice body punch.
Pond blocks a jab.
Good exchange - Pond coming out on top.
Pond circles away from the clinch attempt.

Pond lands a left and a right that send Alberta crashing to the mat, dazed. Pond thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Pond paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.


That has opened up Calgary Alberta's cut even more.

Alberta pushes Pond up against the cage in a clinch.
Alberta tries to break free but Pond pushes him back against the cage.
Alberta fails to pull guard.

Pond is fighting off a takedown attempt but Alberta is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Pond to the mat. Pond regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Alberta wants to control from the top but Pond keeps moving.
Pond keeping full guard, as Alberta tries to pass.
Pond has control of Alberta's left arm, preventing Alberta from doing any damage.

We're going to have a standup here because Tanner Pond wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Alberta misses with a double jab
and Pond counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Alberta thinking.
Pond throws a hook but Alberta blocks it.
Pond looks to land a combination. Alberta sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


The cut above Calgary Alberta's eye is starting to cause him problems now.
Alberta lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!


It looks like Tanner Pond has been cut.
A telegraphed right hand from Alberta misses the target.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Alberta is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Pond darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Alberta throws a body punch but Pond moves out of range.
Alberta tries to clinch up.
Alberta lands with a cross.
Pond misses with an uppercut.
Alberta closes the distance looking to clinch
and Pond counters with a nice leg kick.

Pond misses with a low kick as Alberta jumps back.
Alberta tries to clinch but Pond is having none of it.
A telegraphed right hand from Alberta misses the target.
Pond is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Pond getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

Alberta tries to close the distance and clinch but Pond swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A combination from Alberta does no damage.
Pond smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Alberta uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pond.
Alberta jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pond thuds a left hand into Alberta's body.
Alberta throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Pond.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Pond ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Calgary Alberta's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Pond looks to land a combination. Alberta sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Calgary Alberta's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Tanner Pond!
An out of breath Tanner Pond thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
