Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Big Jim Yorke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Thijs Meyer! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from Yorke. No joy for Meyer on that attempt. Yorke looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. The fight moves into the clinch position. Meyer drags the fight down to the ground.
Yorke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Meyer tries to land a sweep but no joy. Meyer is striking off his back. Yorke thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Meyer can do anything to dispel that myth. Meyer is trying to maintain the position but Yorke is very close to passing his half guard. Meyer is looking to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Yorke throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Yorke wants to stand but Meyer has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Meyer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Yorke moves away. A cross from Yorke lands. Yorke throws a series of punches but Meyer avoids them all with ease. No luck for Meyer with that takedown attempt. Meyer doesn't succeed with the takedown and Yorke counters by moving into the clinch. Big Jim Yorke has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Thijs Meyer. Yorke has had enough of the clinch but Meyer keeps him there for the moment. Meyer is fighting off a takedown attempt but Yorke is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Meyer to the mat. Meyer regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Yorke trying to control the position from guard on top but Meyer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Yorke slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Meyer gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Meyer tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Meyer tries to get to full guard but Yorke has control of the leg. Meyer regains full guard. Nicely done. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yorke wants to stand but Meyer has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Yorke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Meyer on the ground. Yorke trying to control the position from guard on top but Meyer is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Meyer is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Yorke wants to pass the guard but Meyer is keeping the position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Meyer is on top in guard.

Meyer wants to control from the top but Yorke keeps moving. Yorke is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Meyer passes Yorke's left leg - he's now in half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Big Jim Yorke will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Yorke counters with a nice leg kick. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Yorke. Meyer dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Meyer drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yorke is looking to reverse the position. Yorke takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Meyer controls the position from side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Yorke takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Meyer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Yorke is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Meyer tries to move into full mount but can't pass Yorke's legs. Meyer swings around for an armbar but Yorke sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Meyer's guard. Meyer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yorke is one step ahead there. Meyer keeping moving, preventing Yorke from controlling successfully.

Meyer can't keep his opponent in guard - Yorke advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Meyer is pressing down on Yorke's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Meyer looking to hit a scissor sweep but Yorke is one step ahead there. Yorke wanted to stand there but Meyer had control of the position. Meyer tries to land a sweep but no joy. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Yorke utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Meyer passes Yorke's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Yorke tries to roll over but Meyer keeps him under control.
