Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rayce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aaron Stanfield (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Glitch mob - We can make the world stop. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rayce Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Aaron Stanfield!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stanfield stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Stanfield wants it to stay on the feet.
Stanfield keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Stanfield shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gracie's guard.
Gracie managing to control the position.

Stanfield sitting in guard here, content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gracie has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Stanfield is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Gracie.
Stanfield with the ground and pound but Gracie regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Stanfield controlling the pace.
Gracie makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Gracie.
Stanfield engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Gracie wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Stanfield is now in half guard.
Stanfield is just content to waste time from the top position. Gracie takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Stanfield defends easily.

Gracie not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Gracie throws his legs up looking for a submission but Stanfield uses it to pass to side control.
Gracie manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Stanfield wants to get back to his feet.

Gracie is working for a submission of some sort.
Gracie working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Stanfield's thigh. Stanfield counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Gracie wants to pass the guard but Stanfield is keeping the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Rayce Gracie will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Gracie shoots in looking for a takedown. Stanfield tries to sprawl out of it but Gracie keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Stanfield manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Stanfield tries to clinch there but Gracie circles away.
Gracie looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Gracie takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Stanfield throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Stanfield stuffs the takedown.
Gracie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rayce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Stanfield misses with a two punch combination.
Stanfield throws a nice looking combination but Gracie bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Stanfield has Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.
Gracie has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Stanfield after a bit of a struggle.
Gracie is trying to drag Stanfield to the mat but Stanfield just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Stanfield lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Stanfield passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Gracie!

Gracie is wriggling around trying to escape.
Stanfield wants to control the pace but Gracie is squirming around nicely.
Gracie tries to lock up and control but Stanfield gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Stanfield can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gracie is looking to escape.
Gracie tries to hold on but Stanfield postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gracie slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
It looks like Stanfield is going to stand back up.
Stanfield is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Gracie gets back to full guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Stanfield has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Gracie is proving hard to escape from.

Gracie looking for a guillotine here but Stanfield defends easily.
Stanfield is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Gracie looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

and Stanfield counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Aaron Stanfield showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Gracie changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Stanfield tries to avoid it but Gracie manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Stanfield to the ground. Stanfield escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Stanfield counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Gracie!

Stanfield wants to take a breather but Gracie manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Stanfield.
Gracie is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Gracie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gracie keeping moving, preventing Stanfield from controlling successfully.

Gracie controls Stanfield momentarily but Stanfield frees himself.
Stanfield controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Aaron Stanfield.
Stanfield looks to land a body kick but Gracie moved away.
Gracie dives in and grabs Stanfield's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stanfield pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rayce Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Stanfield shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gracie is trying to defend but Stanfield finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gracie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Stanfield stands up and beckons Gracie to join him on the feet.

A thudding body kick lands there by Stanfield!
Gracie dives in and grabs Stanfield's left leg, looking for a takedown. Stanfield pushes down on Gracie's head and hops out.
Aaron Stanfield is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stanfield feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Gracie's calf.
Gracie fails to land the takedown.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

so Stanfield counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Stanfield preventing the sweep.
Stanfield wanted to stand there but Gracie had control of the position.
Stanfield is stalling in the full guard.
Stanfield wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Stanfield seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
This has been an exciting period of action!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Aaron Stanfield hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Stanfield defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie.

Stanfield throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gracie was covering up waiting for the punch and Stanfield finishes the takedown easily into guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Aaron Stanfield comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Stanfield has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
