PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Terry Camacho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathaniel Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson has chosen guns of brixton as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Terry Camacho!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nathaniel Peterson!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Camacho moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A left and a right from Peterson both land. Nice combination.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Camacho enables Peterson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Camacho manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Peterson trying to control but Camacho is working from the bottom.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Peterson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Peterson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Peterson wants to pass the guard but Camacho is keeping the position.
Peterson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peterson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Peterson sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Camacho's guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Peterson is just content to waste time from the top position. Camacho takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Peterson wants to control from the top but Camacho keeps moving.
Peterson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Peterson is still trying to improve position.

Peterson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Peterson postures up and lands a big shot to Camacho's brow.
Peterson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Camacho swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Peterson tries to stand but Camacho is controlling from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Peterson got a little sloppy there for a moment and Camacho has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Peterson has managed to get both his arms back between Camacho's legs - danger averted.
Peterson trying to move into half guard but instead Camacho has managed to sweep!
Camacho loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Camacho is posturing up here but Peterson has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Camacho tries to roll out but it's too tight and Camacho has to tap! Slick submission there by Peterson!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nathaniel Peterson!
In his post fight interview, Nathaniel Peterson started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
