Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
22 - 11 - 1, fighting out of London, Raul Portugis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Witold Kotlecinski! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, William Gold and James Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Portugis feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kotlecinski's calf. Portugis scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Portugis throws a hook to the side of Kotlecinski's head but Kotlecinski sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Raul Portugis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice shot lands for Portugis. Portugis cracks the inside of Kotlecinski's front leg. Portugis lands a head shot. Portugis moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Kotlecinski misses with a few strikes there.
Kotlecinski throws a lazy right hand but Portugis sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Portugis really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kotlecinski jabbing away but nothing is landing. A left lands for Portugis. Kotlecinski closes the distance and clinches up with Portugis, looking for a takedown. Kotlecinski pushes Portugis against the cage but Portugis circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Kotlecinski closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Portugis lands a nice looking body shot.
Portugis moves away from the strike by Kotlecinski. Portugis dodges the punch combination from Kotlecinski.
Portugis catches Kotlecinski with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Kotlecinski rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Portugis moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Portugis misses with a wild body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Portugis lands a jab to Kotlecinski's midsection. Kotlecinski ducks down and throws a hook to the body. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Portugis, right into the meat.
Portugis cracks Kotlecinski with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Kotlecinski throws a combination that misses and Kotlecinski takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Portugis is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Sloppy strikes from Portugis. Those never looked like landing. Portugis scores with a jab to the jaw. Kotlecinski takes one to the chin there. Portugis is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Portugis swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Portugis throws a nice outside leg kick. Portugis with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Portugis goes for a double leg but Kotlecinski avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Kotlecinski continues to drive forward. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A short right hand to the side of the head by Portugis. Portugis cracks Kotlecinski with a nice body shot. Kotlecinski looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Kotlecinski has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Portugis lands on the inside with an uppercut. Kotlecinski wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Portugis has him pressed against the cage. A nice right hand lands inside from Portugis. Kotlecinski has had enough of the clinch but Portugis keeps him there for the moment. Portugis lands a right hand. Portugis scores with a shoulder strike. The referee calls for Portugis to work.
Kotlecinski wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Portugis tries to throw a body punch but Kotlecinski avoids it by throwing Portugis back against the cage. A quick uppercut on the inside from Portugis.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Portugis misses with a punch on the inside.
Kotlecinski takes a shot to the head. Portugis lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Kotlecinski backwards. A short right hand to the side of the head by Portugis. Portugis lands a right hand. Kotlecinski is trying to force a seperation but Portugis has the dominant position. Portugis lands with a left to the head. Portugis lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Kotlecinski. A left hand lands to the body for Portugis.
Portugis has Kotlecinski pressed against the cage, preventing Kotlecinski from circling away and getting back to striking at range. A nice left hand lands by Portugis.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Portugis scores with a shoulder strike. Portugis tries a body shot but Kotlecinski blocks it.
A short right from Portugis on the inside. Kotlecinski is trying to break the clinch but Portugis is controlling him. A shot in the inside from Portugis. Portugis lands with a short shot to the head. Portugis lands with a light punch inside. Portugis dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Portugis lands a body shot. Kotlecinski looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Raul Portugis dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Kotlecinski on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Portugis. Portugis obviously looking to wear him down.
Kotlecinski takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Kotlecinski takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Kotlecinski fails to land the takedown. Kotlecinski thuds a left hand into Portugis's body. Kotlecinski throws a left and a right that both miss
and Portugis cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Portugis connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kotlecinski's hands. Kotlecinski misses with a combination
and Portugis counters with a stiff right hand. A punch lands to the side of Kotlecinski 's head but he takes it in his stride. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Portugis lands a big uppercut and Kotlecinski crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Kotlecinski looks OK. Portugis waves Kotlecinski back to his feet!
Kotlecinski is rocked! Portugis connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Kotlecinski is still on wobbly legs! Can Portugis finish him? Portugis drops Kotlecinski with a naaaaasty hook - Kotlecinski is in real trouble here! Portugis dives in to side control and pounds out his opponent for a TKO victory! The crowd goes nuts!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Raul Portugis! Our winner, Raul Portugis, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
