Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, AD Tricks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Egidiusz Nowakowski! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Alexandre Firmino and Emerson Jorge.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tricks pushes Nowakowski up against the cage in a clinch. Tricks avoiding damage.
Tricks makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Tricks lands with a short shot to the head. Tricks misses with a short punch on the inside. Nowakowski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Tricks fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Tricks creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Nowakowski is trying to drag Tricks to the mat but Tricks just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Tricks stalls. Tricks lands with a short head shot on the inside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nowakowski is looking for a takedown. Nowakowski tries for a takedown. No joy.
I was talking to Tricks's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. AD Tricks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Egidiusz Nowakowski. Nowakowski looking for a takedown. Nowakowski drops down looking for an ankle pick but Tricks pulls his leg out and moves away.
Tricks scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Nowakowski is rocked! Nowakowski has a takedown stuffed. Nowakowski has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight. Tricks tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Tricks tries to clinch there but Nowakowski circles away.
Nowakowski tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Tricks defends well and Nowakowski ends up having to push Tricks into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Nowakowski changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Tricks fights it off and pushes away nicely.
AD Tricks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nowakowski fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Nowakowski gets the takedown into side control. Nowakowski trying to control the action but Tricks is working from the bottom. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nowakowski has hold of Tricks's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Tricks tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Nowakowski cranks the arm and Tricks screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Tricks, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
