With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Cliffton!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Davison!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jonathan Paton and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davison moves out of range of the leg kick from Cliffton.
A left lands for Cliffton.


It looks like Chris Davison has been cut.
We've been told by Cliffton's head coaches at The Iron Palace that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Davison shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Davison was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Davison throws a strike aimed at the side of Cliffton's head but Cliffton avoids it well.
Davison has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Davison postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Cliffton avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Davison.
Cliffton takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.

Still in half guard, Davison seems content to control.
Cliffton wants to get back to his feet.

Davison takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Davison is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Cliffton has escaped the position, nice work there.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Cliffton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Davison on the ground.
Cliffton is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Davison has just dragged him back down to the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Davison tries to score with some ground and pound. Cliffton controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

That's time! Cliffton's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Davison looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Cliffton is fending him off so far but Davison persists. Nope, Cliffton circles away and we're back to standing.

Cliffton bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Davison's head backwards.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Davison.
Scott Cliffton has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Davison.
Davison shoots in for a takedown but Cliffton shows good takedown defense.
Davison uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cliffton.

Cliffton wants to get back to his feet but Davison is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Davison is pushing down on Cliffton's leg trying to pass to half guard. Cliffton is fighting to maintain full guard but Davison has managed to sneak the leg through.

Davison is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Davison wants to advance to full mount but Cliffton doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Davison accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Davison takes a little break here. Cliffton wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Cliffton takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris Davison showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Cliffton throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Davison uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Cliffton.

Let's hope that Davison has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Cliffton is trying to stand.
Cliffton is in a horrible position here. Davison smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Davison swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Cliffton is now in Davison's guard. A big mistake from Davison there, giving up the dominant position!
Davison manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Cliffton manages to get himself to full guard.
Davison passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Scott Cliffton has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cliffton takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Davison is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Cliffton looks calm but he's in trouble here. Davison gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Cliffton is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Davison lets go of the hold and Cliffton can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Chris Davison! Chris Davison retains his super heavyweight title!
Chris Davison seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
