Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Pete Alexander!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Heishiro Mitsurugi!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alexander shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mitsurugi as he avoids it easily.
Alexander on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mitsurugi. Mitsurugi obviously looking to wear him down.
Mitsurugi looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Alexander shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mitsurugi sprawls well. Mitsurugi wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alexander gets slowly back to his feet.
Alexander tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mitsurugi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alexander somewhat.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mitsurugi can do anything to dispel that myth.

Alexander feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
