Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Meg Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Belt Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Belt Hunter will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Meg Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Belt Hunter!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Hunter.

and Hunter takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Hunter.

Hunter clinches up with Griffin and pushes him back against the cage.
Griffin looking for a takedown.
Griffin is working for takedown but Hunter is calmly controlling the position for now.
Griffin is looking for a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Meg Griffin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hunter working hard to break the clinch.
Griffin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hunter after a bit of a struggle.
Griffin could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Hunter's coach down at NORSE FORCE VIKIGS was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Hunter's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Hunter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Griffin.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Griffin drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hunter gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Griffin.
Hunter is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Griffin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Hunter is defending well.

Hunter manages to break the clinch.

Hunter forces Griffin back against the cage and clinches.
Griffin is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Hunter wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Hunter breaks from the clinch.

Hunter pushes Griffin up against the cage in a clinch.
Hunter is trying to push Griffin away but Griffin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Hunter's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Hunter closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Griffin has Hunter pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hunter manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Hunter has had enough of the clinch but Griffin keeps him there for the moment.
Griffin is trying to drag Hunter to the mat but Hunter just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Hunter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hunter closes the distance and clinches.

Belt Hunter seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Griffin dodges the punch combination from Hunter.
Hunter pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Griffin is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Hunter drops Griffin with a beautiful combination! Griffin stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Hunter is looking for the KO!


It looks like Meg Griffin has been cut.
Griffin is breathing heavily.
Some wild striking there from Hunter.
Hunter throws a right and a left that both miss.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hunter will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Hunter pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hunter throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Hunter batters Griffin with a massive right followed by a huge left! Griffin is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Hunter lands a final crushing right hand to drop Griffin to the mat with a gruesome thud! Hunter is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Belt Hunter!
Belt Hunter was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
