Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Evander Mackenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Van Kelly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Evander Mackenzie! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Van Kelly! The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Colin Fray.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mackenzie explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Kelly circles away from the clinch attempt.
Kelly shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mackenzie's guard. Kelly throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mackenzie works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mackenzie wants to sweep but no luck. Mackenzie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Kelly forces his way into half guard. Mackenzie has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kelly is working away from the top position though. Mackenzie is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Kelly looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. Kelly wants to stand but Mackenzie has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mackenzie wants to control but Kelly is keeping busy.
Ground and pound from Kelly. Kelly controlling the pace. Kelly wants to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kelly prevents Mackenzie from improving his position. Mackenzie has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Mackenzie moves into full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kelly preventing the sweep. Mackenzie striking off his back but it's not causing Kelly any problems. Mackenzie trying to control the position.
Kelly trying to control but Mackenzie is working from the bottom. Mackenzie looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kelly is one step ahead there. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Mackenzie trying to control the position here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Mackenzie wants to clinch up but Kelly keeps it at a distance. Evander Mackenzie is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kelly shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Kelly showed some decent athleticism there. Kelly tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mackenzie controls his leg. Mackenzie is pressing down on Kelly's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Mackenzie throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Mackenzie wants to sweep but no luck. Mackenzie keeping moving, preventing Kelly from controlling successfully. Mackenzie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Van Kelly has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Kelly misses with a two punch combination.
Kelly shoots in for a takedown but Mackenzie shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Mackenzie looks to clinch and Kelly moves into the clinch. Kelly tries to score a body lock takedown but Mackenzie shows good agility there to stay on his feet. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mackenzie prevents a takedown attempt there.
Evander Mackenzie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Van Kelly. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mackenzie gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Mackenzie stalling in the clinch.

A close round but Van Kelly will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Kelly drives through with a takedown into Mackenzie's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Kelly is stalling in the full guard. Mackenzie wants to improve his position but instead Kelly has moved into half guard.
Mackenzie is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Mackenzie moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Mackenzie trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Kelly not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Mackenzie keeping moving, preventing Kelly from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mackenzie wants to sweep but no luck. Mackenzie is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Mackenzie tries to land a sweep but no joy.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Van Kelly hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Kelly fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Mackenzie to the ground. Kelly is now in Mackenzie's guard. Kelly sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mackenzie's guard. Mackenzie makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mackenzie. Mackenzie trying to strike off his back.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Van Kelly. Kelly shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kelly was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Kelly wants to stand but Mackenzie has his arm trapped. Kelly cracks Mackenzie with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kelly is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mackenzie has escaped the position, nice work there. Kelly trying to control the position but Mackenzie is working away. You can see the frustration on Mackenzie's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Mackenzie misses with an elbow from the bottom. Kelly looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kelly wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mackenzie keeps working. Kelly wants to stand but Mackenzie is controlling his arm. Mackenzie is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Kelly content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Mackenzie is looking to regain half guard here but Kelly keeps moving and retains side control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kelly slows the pace down. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Van Kelly showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!
Mackenzie connects with an inside leg kick. Kelly keeps the fight on the outside. The fight stays on the outside here - Mackenzie looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Kelly fails with a takedown attempt. Kelly looks for a takedown but Mackenzie sprawls well. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kelly. Evander Mackenzie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Van Kelly. Mackenzie is looking to land body kicks. Kelly closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kelly lands in his opponent's guard.

You can see the frustration on Kelly's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Kelly pulls Mackenzie in close to prevent any damage.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Evander Mackenzie. I think Kelly has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Van Kelly wins by unanimous decision! After winning the bout, Van Kelly thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
