The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
King has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
King darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
King shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
King looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
William King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Makarenko, as that shot connected.
King fails with an attempt to clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
King blocks an elbow strike from Makarenko.
King throws a head punch that misses.

Makarenko pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Makarenko wants to slow King down by chopping away at his legs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Makarenko tries to land a leg kick but King saw it coming and moves away.
Makarenko fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
King misses with a hook
and Makarenko counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Crunch! Makarenko slams his shin into King's torso.
King is breathing heavily.
Makarenko cracks a nice hook into King's ribs.
Makarenko scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. King doesn't seem bothered though.

Makarenko is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down King rather than just go for the knockout.

King uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Makarenko.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
King goes for a double leg but Makarenko avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Makarenko continues to drive forward.
