Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Papy Abedi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Also Zarathustra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zarathustra has chosen Red Birds Will Fly Out Of The East And Destroy Paris In A Night as his entrance music. Also Zarathustra struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 171.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Also Zarathustra told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Papy Abedi! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Also Zarathustra! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Reed Andrews and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abedi thows a body shot but no joy. Abedi works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Zarathustra has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Abedi tries to clinch up but Zarathustra circles away and keeps his distance. Zarathustra throws a looping overhand right but Abedi ducks down to avoid it. Zarathustra misses with a looping left. Abedi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Abedi looking to pass the guard. Abedi passes Zarathustra's left leg - he's now in half guard. Abedi wants to lay and pray for a moment but Zarathustra keeps working. Zarathustra is looking to improve his position.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Papy Abedi just wasn't active enough. Abedi lands an overhand right. Abedi dives in and grabs Zarathustra's left leg, looking for a takedown. Zarathustra pushes down on Abedi's head and hops out. Zarathustra takes one on the button.

Abedi manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Zarathustra on his heels. He'll look to pass Zarathustra's guard now, I'm sure. Zarathustra is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Abedi missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Zarathustra can't keep his opponent in guard - Abedi advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Abedi with the ground and pound but Zarathustra uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Abedi is landing with some decent strikes but Zarathustra is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Abedi trying to control but he's not successful this time. Abedi scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Zarathustra?

Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Zarathustra looks to score with a jab to the body but Abedi is just out of range. Abedi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Zarathustra as he jumps to the side. Zarathustra throws out a powerful jab. Zarathustra takes one to the chin there. Abedi cracks Zarathustra with a good jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zarathustra takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Papy Abedi is winning the standup battle so far. Zarathustra's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Abedi connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Zarathustra scrambles back to his feet. Abedi shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Zarathustra eats them both and turns towards Abedi to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Abedi wants to clinch up but Zarathustra keeps it at a distance. Abedi throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Zarathustra misses with a takedown attempt - Abedi sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Zarathustra takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Abedi uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Zarathustra. Zarathustra takes a swing at Abedi's ribcage but misses. Abedi shoots in and drives through. Zarathustra sprawls well. That's two minutes gone in the round. Abedi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! A lull in the action here. Abedi wants to control but Zarathustra is keeping him busy. Abedi remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Papy Abedi is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Abedi is just content to waste time from the top position. Zarathustra takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Papy Abedi showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Abedi, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Papy Abedi! A very excited looking Papy Abedi rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
