Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jose Luis Cantero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jackie Chan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jose Luis Cantero has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Luis Cantero!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jackie Chan!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cantero fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Cantero shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Chan is trying to control the position but Cantero postures up.

Cantero drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Chan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Cantero has Chan in his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Cantero working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Chan doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Chan manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Chan is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Chan wants to get up but he can't break Cantero's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Cantero is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Cantero has a closed guard, preventing Chan from standing up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Chan tries to lock up and control but Cantero gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Cantero is working for a guillotine from mount but Chan frees his head quite easily.
Chan is squirming around, avoiding Cantero's attempts to control the action.

Cantero looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Chan sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Chan is looking to control Cantero's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chan avoid being mounted?
Chan is pressing down on Cantero's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Chan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cantero is one step ahead there.
Chan controls Cantero momentarily but Cantero frees himself.

Cantero thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Cantero decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chan looks like he's trying to stand up.
Cantero seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Chan gets back to full guard.
Cantero won't allow Chan to sweep him here.
Cantero slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Chan is looking to reverse the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cantero is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Chan has escaped the position, nice work there.

Chan bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Chan shoots and misses

and Cantero counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Chan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cantero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Chan is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cantero is pressing down on Chan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Chan is holding on for now.

Cantero wants to work for an arm triangle but Chan is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Cantero is working for a kimura but Chan is defending it quite comfortably.
Cantero is tying to control. Chan wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Chan is looking for a sweep. Cantero is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Chan is trying to control but can't.
Cantero is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Chan!
Chan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Cantero trying to control but Chan is having none of it.
Chan has given up his back here. Will Cantero look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Cantero lands strikes to the head.

Chan is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Cantero misses with a takedown

and Chan counters with a single leg into guard. Cantero didn't expect that.
Cantero wants to sweep but no luck.
Chan with a nice head shot there.
Chan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cantero swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Chan landing some decent shots from guard.
Chan postures up in Cantero's guard and throws a big left but Cantero blocks it.

Chan tries to free his leg and advance position but Cantero is retaining full guard.
Jose Luis Cantero overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Cantero has his foot on Chan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Chan works his way back into a safe position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Chan shoots and misses

and Cantero counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Chan's guard now.
Cantero thows a big elbow that misses.
Cantero wants to control from the top but Chan keeps moving.

Cantero drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Cantero seems to have locked his on tight now - Chan screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Cantero, as he picks up the win!
