The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jackson fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Jackson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Doinel but Doinel pushes him off and we're back to square one. Antoine Doinel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice sprawl there from Doinel as Jackson shoots in. Antoine Doinel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bamboo Jackson. Doinel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Doinel prevents Jackson from improving his position. Doinel is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Jackson has managed to free his arm - good work. Doinel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jackson is just riding it out for now. Doinel eventually gives up the hold. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jackson looking for submissions off his back. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Doinel connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple. Jackson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Doinel pulls his head out easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doinel stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Doinel swings for the body but Jackson moves out of range.
Nice takedown defense from Doinel. No joy for Jackson on that attempt. Some bone on bone action there as Jackson checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Danga de danga de dang - Doinel scores with a four punch combination! Doinel throws a body punch but Jackson moves out of range. Doinel motions for Jackson to come forward. Doinel throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Jackson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Doinel swivels and escapes. Jackson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Doinel as he jumps to the side. Doinel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jackson sprawls well initially but Doinel persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Jackson wants to get back to full guard. Jackson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jackson looks gassed! Doinel seems to be working for a kimura but Jackson defends the submission attempt. Doinel passes to full mount!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Jackson is trying desperately to improve position. Jackson has given up his back. Will we see Doinel going for some submissions?
Jackson defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Doinel's arms. Doinel is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Jackson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jackson turns into Doinel and is now in his guard.
Jackson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Jackson looking to pass the guard. Doinel wants to sweep here but Jackson controlling him for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Doinel is on top in guard.

Doinel drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Doinel jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Jackson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Doinel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Doinel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Doinel pushing down on Jackson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Doinel works his way into side control. Doinel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well. Jackson is trying to improve his position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doinel scores with a couple of short elbows. Jackson regains half guard. Doinel looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jackson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Doinel lands with a punch from half guard. Doinel is working for a kimura but Jackson is defending it quite comfortably.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Jackson is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Doinel pulls his head out easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Antoine Doinel dominated that round. That's time! Doinel's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Jackson moves out of range of the leg kick from Doinel. Jackson fails with a takedown attempt. Jackson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Bamboo Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Doinel throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Doinel bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jackson is looking to regain half guard here but Doinel keeps moving and retains side control. Doinel wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jackson, who protects the arm well. Jackson is looking for a sweep. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Doinel looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Jackson regains half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Doinel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Doinel prevents Jackson from improving his position. Doinel is looking to advance position but Jackson won't allow it. Jackson regains full guard. Nicely done. Doinel avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Jackson is fighting to maintain full guard but Doinel has managed to sneak the leg through. Jackson is trying to get back to full guard. Doinel is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Doinel looking to finish Jackson with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jackson! Doinel is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Jackson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Jackson regains half guard. Doinel wants to free his trapped foot but Jackson is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jackson wants to improve his position but Doinel is controlling well.
Doinel moves nicely into side control. Jackson should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Doinel is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jackson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Doinel will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Jackson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
