Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dewayne Buckley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ortiz comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Skip Em' Up kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Dewayne Buckley has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dewayne Buckley!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Angel Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Saam Ante and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buckley blocks a head kick by Ortiz.
Ortiz dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Buckley. That did some damage!

Buckley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Buckley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ortiz is trying to improve his position.

Buckley decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ortiz attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Angel Ortiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ortiz throws a sloppy head kick

and Buckley counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Buckley.

Ortiz is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Buckley can't fight it off and eventually Ortiz manages to take the fight to the floor. Buckley looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ortiz drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Buckley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Ortiz has Buckley in his guard.
Buckley is looking to work some ground and pound but Ortiz has wrist control.

Buckley decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Ortiz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Buckley avoids it really well and circles away.
Ortiz tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Buckley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Buckley lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Ortiz bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Buckley's guard.

Buckley is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Buckley is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ortiz defends well.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ortiz throws an elbow that misses. Buckley uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Ortiz's guard. Nice move by Buckley!

Buckley stands up and waves to Ortiz to follow him.
Ortiz shoots in for a takedown but Buckley shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Ortiz throws a sloppy head kick and Buckley moves out of range easily.

Buckley wants to get up but he can't break Ortiz's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Ortiz is looking for a triangle but Buckley pushes his legs off easily.
Ortiz wants to sweep here but Buckley controlling him for the moment.

Buckley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Ortiz, up you get!

and Buckley counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Dewayne Buckley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Ortiz.

Buckley decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Ortiz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
A body shot lands from Buckley.

Buckley has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ortiz regains guard immediately.
Buckley is stalling in the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Ortiz shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Buckley is trying to defend but Ortiz finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Ortiz is stalling here. Buckley is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Ortiz seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Buckley has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Ortiz is pushing Buckley's head away, looking to escape. Buckley manages to hold on to the position though.
Ortiz looks to move to half guard but instead Buckley has passed into mount! Damn!
Buckley takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Buckley has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Ortiz is trying desperately to improve position.
Ortiz is breathing heavily.
Ortiz throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Ortiz working to try and regain half guard.
Buckley controlling the pace for now.
Ortiz is desperately trying to improve his position but Buckley has a good base and remains in mount.
Buckley tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Buckley will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ortiz wants to hold on but Buckley pushes him away.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Buckley tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buckley's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Dewayne Buckley just wasn't active enough.

Ortiz shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Buckley manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ortiz throws a strike but Buckley rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Buckley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Buckley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Buckley is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Buckley seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ortiz for as long as he can get away with.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

and Buckley makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Buckley counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ortiz won't be happy with that.

Buckley really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Buckley decides to stand back up. Buckley steps back and let's Ortiz get back to his feet.
Ortiz shoots for a double leg takedown but Buckley sprawls well. He's pushed Ortiz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Dewayne Buckley has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Ortiz.
Buckley misses with a takedown attempt - Ortiz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Buckley shoots in looking for a takedown. Ortiz tries to sprawl out of it but Buckley keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Ortiz manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Ortiz throws a sloppy head kick and Buckley moves out of range easily.
Buckley shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Buckley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dewayne Buckley is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Buckley, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
